[Onebrother] FW: VITA volunteer information meeting Nov 12, 5:30 @ Goodwill

I am the site coordinator for the VITA program at Rosehall and would welcome
your involvement in this volunteer project.  Please consider attending this
information meeting or you can call me if you have questions.  The sites
operate from the end of January till the middle of April.  You can volunteer
for as much time as you like.  The tax law training is online and we have
sessions to learn the software in January.  I am not an accountant and was
able to get on to it quickly so if you have the desire you can do it.

Tax season is just around the corner! There will be an information meeting
about the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for 2013 on Monday
evening, November 12 at 5:30 at Goodwill Learning Center located at 4108 S.
31st Street. 

 

We will talk about training, testing, and signing up to volunteer at one of
the two sites in Temple. Bring your questions and we'll be glad to answer
them. If we don't know they answer, we'll find out.

 

The VITA program in Temple has two sites: one at Goodwill Learning Center
and the other at Central Texas Housing Consortium's Rose Hall on North 9th
Street. These two sites were responsible for assisting 640 people with their
taxes and seeing refunds of $868,575 returned to tax payers.

 

Come be a part of helping people in our community. You never know just how
much it is appreciated and remembered. In the dentist's office this
afternoon, one of the ladies recognized me and said, "You do my taxes!" I
know we'll see her in just a few months.
