I am tempted to say, "God has really been taken care of me lately," but that would reflect my lack of acknowledgment that he is always taking the best possible (that is for an omnipotent god) care of me. I suppose I should say he is letting me see how well he is taking care of me.
I have seen this is a variety of ways, but I thought I'd take time to share one that He has used to really give me some joy and will probably give you a laugh. I downloaded a sampler album from ToothAndNail Records (a Christian alternative music label) a few weeks ago. I liked very little of the music, but there was some electronica/dance music that I liked a little, and I knew that Soren would like, so I put it on my iPhone.
When I played it, the boys did like it, and I grew to like one song in particular, Fever. I can't be for certain, but I think the fever spoken of is either the Holy Spirit or the joy or perhaps Christ-likeness. That may be a stretch, but I am always trying to make these things make sense. I decided to do a little searching on the Web to see if I could find out more. Fever is by Family Force Five, a band made up of five guys three of whom are brothers. They are indeed Christians, and you can watch some interviews about their faith on YouTube. However, my best find is a video for another song called Dance or Die. Go ahead click the link. Watch it once, then ready my commentary. I think you'll want to watch it again.
At first I kind of liked the sound, and thought it was funny in a cooky way. After watching it a few times, I realized that it is a drama about salvation. My theory is that the guys in the muck are man before Christ. The Alien is Christ who gives Soul Glow a new heart which regenerates them. Their dancing is preaching the Gospel which is the way God regenerates others. You can this in the way the others come to life. They are taken by Christ to the new Eden or new life in Christ. The "Dance War" is spiritual warfare.
I don't imagine the music will be your favorite, but I think the images do preach the Gospel. Take joy. You were once dead in your trespasses and sins, but he made you alive together with Christ. We are alive now in a way that we should have always been, but was not possible under sin. The HS really gave me joy as I saw the way this picture the message of Christ. I hope it will some of you.
Peace,
Heath
